Client: Ernst & Young | Xcel Energy

Ernst & Young, providing Xcel Energy with IT consultation and strategy to take their big vision to the public.

The Proposal

Xcel Energy, a major utility provider in the midwest, tasked Ernst & Young with helping rebuild their digital experience as well as concieve new applications and business tools to engage and service new customers as well as existing customers.

An outdated platform lacking content and structure as well as the lack of digital tools for setting up new customer services, managing existing customer services were part of what stakeholders and research determined were lacking from the companies existing platform.

The design intentionally veered away from the traditional look and feel that most corporate or utlility companies had followed to date.

The Outcome

EY stratagists and designers were brought in to redesign the new platform and create new applications, as well as new workflows and processes. A new content strategy and reformating of presentation of delivery we're also part of the new site and communication strategy.

Given the bold vision Xcel has for it's future, being the first major US utlility company to be carbon free, I felt that the overall design direction needed to be bold and able to capture the emotion of the message Xcel was trying to convey to the public.

The final design direction was chosen from the visual concepts I had presented. Xcel felt they captured the "grandness and elegance" visually what they are trying to communicate verbally.
